Call for abstracts – International African Vaccinology Conference; November 2012

We invite you to submit an abstract to the International African Vaccinology Conference, on any aspect of vaccines or vaccine preventable diseases; including (but not limited to) basic science, clinical, epidemiological, public health, and health systems research.

Abstract submission deadline 31 March 2012

Sponsorship is available for African delegates whose abstracts are accepted for either oral or poster presentation.

International African Vaccinology Conference: Cape Town, South Africa, 09 to 11 November 2012

Advocating for efforts to protect African children, families and communities from the threat of infectious diseases

Hosted by the Vaccines for Africa Initiative, the conference is jointly organized by the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD).

 

The conference chairs are Professors Gregory Hussey (UCT), Shabir Madhi (NICD), and Barry Schoub (NICD).

 

The conference will focus on critical vaccine and immunisation issues for Africa and the world as we approach the 2015 deadline for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Global Immunisation Vision and Strategy (GIVS). It will provide a forum for discussion on vaccinology in Africa, including science, clinical, public health and health systems research.

VACFA adheres to international credibility and content criteria of good information practices

On 24 November 2009 the World Health Organization added VACFA to the list of Vaccine Safety Net websites, because of VACFA's adherence to the credibility and content criteria of good information practices. "This site represents an important addition to the network since it is just the second site to be included from the African region" says WHO.
